Abstract
The purpose of this CST technical recommendation is to define the archival master medium for the long-term preservation of cinematographic works as film heritage, independently of any planned exploitation. The technical recommendation covers several areas: the preservation medium for images; the preservation medium for sound; the technical quality of the elements used for transfer to this preservation medium; the technical quality of the preserved elements (image and sound); the programme elements to be preserved.

La présente recommandation technique de la CST a pour objet de définir le support maître d’archivage pour la conservation sur le long terme des œuvres cinématographiques en tant que patrimoine cinématographique, hors toute notion d’exploitation programmée. La recommandation technique définit plusieurs domaines : Le support de conservation des images ; Le support de conservation des sons ; La qualité technique des éléments permettant le transfert sur ce support de conservation ; La qualité technique des éléments conservés (image et son) ; Les éléments de programme à conserver
