Abstract
The purpose of this document is to define recommendations on acoustic characteristics, together with evaluation methodologies, applicable to cinema theaters with standardized sound reproduction systems (that is, up to 7.1 multichannel at the date of publication of this document), in the following areas:

• Ambient background noise level with all equipment running;

• Acoustic reverberation time;

• Acoustic insulation between theaters.

Guidance is also given on the correct positioning of the surround-channel loudspeakers.

Work on all the acoustic conditions of cinema theaters is under way within international standards bodies and in France. This recommendation will be updated to take it into account as soon as the results of that work are published.

Le présent document a pour objet de définir les recommandations concernant les caractéristiques acoustiques, ainsi que les méthodologies d’évaluation, applicables aux salles de cinéma disposant de systèmes de reproduction sonore normalisés (donc jusqu’au multicanal 7.1 en date de publication du présent document), dans les domaines suivants :

• Niveau de bruit de fond ambiant tous équipements en fonctionnement ;

• Temps de réverbération acoustique ;

• Isolation acoustique entre salles.

Il est également proposé des indications sur le bon positionnement des enceintes acoustiques des canaux d’ambiance.

Des travaux sur l’ensemble des conditions acoustiques des salles de spectacles cinématographiques sont en cours au sein des organismes de standardisation internationaux et en France. La présente recommandation sera mise à jour pour en tenir compte, dès publication des résultats de ces travaux.
