Abstract
Personalized, immersive audio provides the next wave of enhancement to the broadcast experience. Next-generation audio broadcast systems let content owners create and deliver more audio than can be sent through a traditional broadcast channel. Consumers can tailor their broadcast audio through interactive control of additional sound elements such as alternate dialogue, ambience, and effects. Next-generation audio can also provide an improved experience by rendering to an extended range of playback systems including an overhead surround dimension. This article provides a technical overview of the technology, tools, and workflow developed for a next-generation broadcast audio system.
