- Digital technology is having a profound influence on many aspects of human activity. It certainly has affected all areas of television broadcasting. Some of its more important applications in this area include digital logic circuits, digital control of equipment, microprocessor control of equipment, computer-controlled program switching and editing, computer graphics, teletext and other ancillary signals, digital audio, and digital video.

bio
Prior to his recent retirement to pursue other interests, Mr. Davidoff was a Staff Consultant-Advanced Technology for the CBS Television Network. His principal activities were to keep aware of new developments in technology which might affect CBS broadcasting operations. He was previously involved there in television film recording and general video circuit design. Before joining CBS, he was with Telechrome Mfg. Co. as a studio video equipment designer. He has received BEE and MEE degrees from CCNY and NYU. Mr. Davidoff is a Fellow of the SMPTE, a Senior Member of the IEEE, and a member of the RTS, SPIE, and SPSE. For many years, he was Chairman of the IEEE Broadcasting Group Audio-Video Techniques Committee and has been a member of many other national and international technical committees. He was recently appointed Chairman of the SMPTE Task Force on Component Digital Coding. This group was established to examine the objectives and constraints involved in a worldwide component digital code for program production and television studio operation, with the primary objective of developing an SMPTE position. - Copyright
