Abstract: An ergonomic situation analysis was performed in preparation for the introduction of new negative inspection and cutting workstations and the addition of several efficiency enhancements. This paper reviews the physical and neurosensorial demands on negative inspectors and cutters and explores whether a cause-and-effect relationship exists between equipment typically used and the discomforts and traumas that occur. It proposes work situation improvements in human posture, equipment, work surface, environmental arrangements, and work processes.
