Abstract
For those of us immersed in serving the professional media industry, no one needs to tell us that the rate of change in our industry is accelerating with each passing year. Only a few years ago, the life span of many technologies was measured in years, or in some cases decades. The rate of change of these technologies was evolutionary with constant gradual improvements each year. Today, the media industry is undergoing a whirlwind of change that is often measured by lifecycles of months or even weeks.
