Abstract: A few days ago, I returned from my second IBC. What a difference a year makes! The SMPTE stand, part of the IBC Partnership Village, was very busy with visitors, including old friends and those with new business interests. As partner organization of the IBC, SMPTE receives a share of the proceeds of the event. Not only is it important for the industry that we experience a strong IBC, but it helps support SMPTE's activities as well. And IBC 2011 was the strongest show ever. According to recently published figures, more than 50,000 people attended IBC this year. It clearly is a testament to the recovery that is starting to take shape within the industry and we hope it continues.
