Abstract
The SMPTE 2nd Annual International Conference on Stereoscopic 3D for Media and Entertainment held on 21-22 June 2011 offered two days of exceptional presentations on the topic of 3D, ranging from the human perception of 3D viewing to finding ways to enhance and improve that perception via methods in image acquisition, image processing, and advancements in display technology. SMPTE President Pete Ludé opened the event with a warm welcome to all in attendance, stating that despite a slight slowdown at the box office, the overall outlook for 3D is positive.
