- Abstract
- This paper describes an image enhancer which is small enough to be contained in the recently developed 2/3-in. 1.3M pixel CCD HDTV hand-held camera. At the beginning of the design process, we considered what structure would be most suitable to match the characteristics of the camera, which uses three 1.3M pixel CCD arrays in a Dual-green pickup method. We came to the conclusion that using an analog image enhancer with a glass delay line was the best choice for an HDTV hand-held camera, in view of power consumption. In addition, we employ a new CCD driving method in the camera to simplify the enhancer's circuits. By means of the built-in enhancer, the portability and picture quality of the hand-held camera has been much improved, increasing its usefulness in HD-ENG systems.
