- Abstract
- This article describes the development of an HDTV 2/3-in. charge-coupled device (CCD) handheld camera, employing three CCDs with 1.3 million pixels, 1258 (H) X 1035 (V) each. Emphasis has been placed on the overall balance of the CCDs, instead of on just increasing the number of pixels. In order to obtain high resolution, a dual-green pickup method has been employed. Using this method, limiting resolution of more than 1000 TV lines has been achieved. The results of an experiment comparing the resolution of this camera and that of an RGB camera are also discussed.
