Abstract
Since the golden age of radio, audience measurement inefficiencies have hindered some and enabled others. To appreciate the relationship between the ATSC Content Recovery standard and the SMPTE Open Binding project, we have to consider the unique history of ad-supported entertainment in the United States. — Experts from the field of demographic research previously worked in private. Today, statistics analysts are talking to broadcast engineers. Pitchmen, TV networks and their agents are working together because the future of big numbers depends on councils, collectives, coalitions and cooperatives. To ensure that cross-platform impression-tracking resources can interoperate, an unprecedented effort is underway.
