Abstract
The producer of training films may well combine the discoveries of psyohology with the techniques of the motion picture. Such a combination will have as its antecedent the realization that a training film is only as good as it is an effective instrument of behavior control. While changes in the behavior of the trainee provide the final measure of excellence of the picture, standards of excellence must be considered before and during production. A film to be effective must have 4 basic characteristics: it must be built in the form of a narrative, around the successful solution of a problem; it must possess opportunities for directed identification; it must be convincingly logical; and it must be an artistic production.
