Abstract: Because network programming usually includes greater scope of subject material than is possible on local stations, the lighting of these programs also presents a greater variety of problems. The lighting of larger areas and the variations of this lighting to accentuate a wide variety of moods and camera angles become of paramount importance. The technique developed in lighting network programs uses interesting combinations of all types of lighting equipment and a wide range of wattages to obtain the balance and the intensities necessary for the cameras while operating within the dramatic structure. These techniques and methods are discussed.
