Abstract: Traveling-matte photography is so complex a subject that the author's intention here is only to familiarize the reader with some of the basic concepts and problems. Personal experience, skill and knowledge of the most intricate phases of photographic science on the part of individuals have led to unique and often patentable methods of achieving the same type of composite photography in different ways.
