- Abstract
- This article outlines the rationale that led the design team of a second-generation D-1 DVTR to search for a novel method of reducing playback error rates. The major sources of error rate production in a DVTR are identified and a strategy for the minimization of error rates is discussed. A method of reducing playback-produced random error rates is described, and the improvement that can be expected from the technique is quantified theoretically and discussed practically.
