- Abstract
- A new sound negative film for variable-area photographic soundtracks has been deveoped. The film, known as Eastman sound recording II film 5373/7373, will offer improved sound quality for the final listener as well as broader latitude in the laboratory compared with Eastman fine grain sound recording film 5375/7375. Fundamental photographic characteristics of the film such as spectral sensitivity, modulation transfer function, and contrast are first described. Audio quality (frequency response, signal-to-noise ratio, distortion, and exposure latitude) is next described. Finally, the handling and processing characteristics of the film in the laboratory are treated in the final two sections.
