Abstract
Film review rooms were developed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for the simulation of television viewing conditions, providing a “tool” for critically maintaining the audio and photographic image quality of film program materials that provide the English and French networks with as much as 50% of their on-air program schedule, and 80% or more during prime time peak periods. Recently, audio monitoring practices have also been developed. For these, particular attention has been paid to the design philosophy of the film review room in specifying audio monitoring equipment and the acoustic environment of the review room. Experience gained from the design of other high-quality radio and television monitoring areas was relied upon in the development of these practices.
