- Abstract
- Continuous efforts to develop the technologies for digital video recording have been made for several years, resulting in a number of experiments and technical papers on this subject presented on various occasions. None of these presentations, however, has given sufficiently clear ideas on the DVTR format likely to be a standard in the future. The authors have long been involved in the development of DVTRs, starting from a 3 fields/sec NTSC composite machine, up to the latest 4:2:2 component ones. With these experiences in mind, it is appropriate to summarize the experimental results obtained so far and to derive ideas for the DVTR format, to stimulate discussion or to form the basis of the ultimate DVTR format.
