Progress Report on Standards and Technology–Audio

Brett Crockett is senior director, sound technology research, at Dolby, where he facilitates research and development of the breakthrough and next-generation audio and surround sound technologies for which Dolby is widely recognized. He leads Dolby's San Francisco, Sydney and Barcelona research groups and coordinates activities between the research and sales and marketing groups to keep technology research and development focused on the end user. In addition, Crockett actively participates in formulating corporate business, technology, and standards strategies. He is an inventor or co-inventor on more than 30 Dolby patents and patent applications. Crockett started at Dolby in 1997 as senior staff engineer. Prior to joining Dolby, he worked in the research and development departments at TRW ESL in Sunnyvale, CA., and at Applied Signal Technology, also in Sunnyvale, where he was responsible for creating cutting-edge telecommunications technologies for voice and data systems. He is a member and frequent paper reviewer and convention session chair for the Audio Engineering Society and is a member of SMPTE.
