- The SMPTE 2014 Progress Report reflects ongoing changes across the image, sound, and metadata ecosystem, worldwide, along with highlighted work that the Society has undertaken to address these changes and facilitate forward progress. Within this report, SMPTE's partner standards and industry associations have provided articles on relevant activities in their organizations, and numerous experts have provided status updates on particular technology areas of interest.

bio
Bob Seidel graduated from Lehigh University with a BSEE degree. After graduation, he worked at the U.S Dept. of Defense in Electronic Countermeasures. He joined CBS Engineering as a design engineer in 1976 and, in 1989, was promoted to vice president television engineering. Seidel directed the engineering team that made broadcasting history when CBS affiliate WRAL-HD became the first television station to transmit HDTV on 23 July 1996. In 1993 he received an Emmy for his pioneering work in portable newsgathering satellite uplink systems. Seidel is the chair of the Emmy Engineering & Technical committee for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and on the Advanced Television Systems Committee Board. - Copyright
