- Abstract
- With about 1,600 vendors exhibiting at the NAB 2013 show, it's easy to see the direction and momentum of our industry. Or is it? Some product categories are traditional and define NAB at its heart: antennas, lighting, microphones, cameras, compression, tripods, speakers, displays, control surfaces, and so on. These are not considered information technology (IT) in nature, and this view will likely remain even if they sport an Ethernet connector. However, product categories such as signal and file management, transport, image processing, audio-visual (AV) editorial, review and approval, automation, scheduling, storage and archiving, element management, synchronizing methods, and distribution have taken on a distinctly IT nature in the past several years.
