- Abstract
- The introduction of high-efficiency light sources such as LEDs in TV and film production studios has revitalized the earlier work of W. N. Sproson, and E. W. Taylor (BBC) on the effects of lighting for television. In the report of this work at IBC2011, Alan Roberts gave a well-informed look into what may well be the consequences of uncritically introducing LED-based studio lighting into program production. In order to fully realize the proposed Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI-2012), it is necessary to have information about the spectral sensitivity in modern TV cameras using CCD and CMOS sensors. Since camera manufacturers are reluctant to disclose such information, work has been undertaken at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corp. (NRK) to measure the spectral sensitivity properties of modern HDTV cameras. The result of this work has enabled the authors to develop the proposal for a “standard” television camera color model that is presented in this paper.
