Abstract
This paper examines the limitations of baseband video formats in large-scale live events, with a focus on the advantages provided by the SMPTE ST 2110 standard. By comparing traditional point-to-point video transmission methods with IP-based infrastructure, the paper outlines key benefits such as improved metadata reliability, reduced physical equipment, and increased system flexibility. A case study of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 illustrates the application of these technologies, highlighting the role of a network-based architecture in achieving high pettormance and reliability for live video transmission.
