- Abstract
- The Laser cathode ray tube or “Laser-CRT” is a novel, high power light and image source for application in projection display, telecine and film recording. In a Laser-CRT, a semiconductor laser faceplate replaces the phosphor. A scanning electron beam impinges upon the faceplate and light is produced at each point along a raster by laser action. The Laser-CRT combines the best of CRTs and lasers; that is high- resolution, multi-sync, multi-format, reliability and low-cost of CRTs with the rich saturated colors, wide gamut and high contrast ratio available with lasers.
