Howard T. La Zare, Senior Vice-President, Engineering, Deluxe Laboratories, Inc., is SMPTE Editorial Vice-President. He was most recently SMPTE's Engineering Director, Motion Pictures, and immediately before that, Vice-President for Motion Picture Affairs. Mr. La Zare joined SMPTE in 1971 and was made a Fellow in 1975. He is a member of many committees for the Society. He has previously held the position of Chairman, Manager, and Secretary/Treasurer of the Hollywood Section. Mr. La Zare previously served as Conference Chairman of the 123 rd Technical Conference and Program Co-Chairman at the 121st, Session Chairman for the Laboratory Practices Session at the 117th, and Session Chairman and Topic Chairman for the Session on Unconventional Imaging Systems at the 119th. He received, for his engineering achievements, a Class II Academy Award in 1973 and a second Class II Academy Award in 1982 from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
