- Abstract
- To reduce the complexity of the description of a video format standard, a language can be employed to fully specify the pattern of the video synchronization signal. The language describes the excursions of the video synchronization signal in both horizontal and vertical blanking intervals, and describes the relationship between sync and active portions of the line. The language can be processed by a computer program called a compiler which can derive information to provide information to hardware that generates the electrical output. The language is described both formally and by example.
