Abstract
During the past several years, there has been a great deal of discussion in the Broadcast and Teleproduction industry about digital television – – especially digital video recording, and the selection process for an eventual recording standard. Mechanical tape format is a key ingredient in this selection process. The technology issues surrounding mechanical tape format parameters are indeed complex – – there are a great many variables and tradeoff alternatives.
