- Abstract
- Program distribution at Public Broadcast1ng Service (PBS) evolved from a single channel terrestrial interconnection with regional delay centers to a multi-channel operation with satellite distribution. To facilitate the program switching operation a multi-channel automation system was specified by PBS and custom built by the Grass Valley Group. A manual machine control and routing switcher control system was developed and built by PBS. Several unique features were incorporated into these systems. The system architecture is described and the progress and pitfalls of several features are assessed.
