Abstract: When we started our tentative TV audio-multiplex service in 1978, our object was to offer it in Tokyo and Osaka. Today, however, it is growing into a nation-wide service using NHK's TV networks.

Yoshiaki Inamoto was born in Tokyo, Japan, on January 22, 1948. He received his B.S. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Waseda University in 1970. He joined NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) in 1970, and is now engineer of the Studio Engineering Div., Engineering Headquarters at NHK Broadcasting Center in Tokyo. His major work has been in designing and installing the automatic transmission control system of NHK's local stations, and he has been designing studio facilities especially related to TV stereo and bilingual service.
