Abstract: The RCA TK-47 Studio Camera has experienced considerable growth since its introduction. Much of this change has been possible because of the programmable microprocessor-based control system. I would like to explain to you, now, exactly what those changes were, the impact of software on those changes, and some general observations for implementing microprocessor-based products.

Bernard Hurley was born in Bayonne, New Jersey. After receiving his BS Degree in Physics in 1959 from St. Joseph's College in Philadelphia, he joined RCA Service Company in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Following assignments with the service company, with the Computer Division in Florida, and with the Research Laboratories in Princeton, he joined the TK-47 Team at the RCA Broadcast Division in Camden, New Jersey. Over the last six years he has made many significant contributions to the TK-47 control system and its automatic setup capability. In his current position as Unit Manager in the New Camera Design Group, he is deeply involved in the development of RCA's future studio cameras. He is a member of the IEEE and the Association for Computing Machinery.
