Abstract: During the past few years broadcasting organizations and manufacturers of broadcasting equipment have become increasingly aware of the potential advantages of establishing a standard system for the remote control of television and radio production equipment based on the use of digital techniques.

Robert W. McAll, manager, Advanced System Development, Digital Video Systems, New York, has worked with various sectors of the television industry on the development of special applications for digital products and the application of digital technology to new product areas. Mr. McAll has held numerous positions for SMPTE, including Chairman of SMPTE Committee T14.10, Past Chairman of Committee E.A.RS170A, membership on the Committee for Standardization of Digital TV, and membership on the Sub Group for Studio Employment. He is a graduate of Antioch College and Hofstra University. He is an SMPTE Fellow.

M.J. Stickler is Head of Television Studio and OB Group, Studio Capital Projects Department, British Broadcasting Corporation. He is the Chairman of the EBU Ad Hoc Group for Control of Television Broadcast Studio Equipment.
