- Advancements in digital signal processing, driven primarily by computer technology, and the demands of the entertainment industry for higher technical performance and extended system capabilities, have had a major impact on the world of audio. As a result, digital audio products represent one of the fastest growing segments of the entertainment industry today.

bio
David E. Acker received his BEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1961 and a MSEE from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1965. He started his career in television at Microtime Inc. in 1971. From 1972 until 1978 he was vice-president of engineering at this firm. In this position he led the technical development activities which produced analog and digital TBC products, frame synchronizers, and other television signal-processing equipment. From 1978 to 1980, he was president of Microtime Inc. In 1980, he formed Datra Inc., a consulting firm, and developed the FA-410 TBC under contract with FOR-A Co. Ltd. Since 1982, he has been president of FOR-A Corp. of America. He has been an active participant in several of the SMPTE Working Group activities and has contributed several papers on TBCs and other television processing equipment since becoming a member in 1974. - Copyright
