Abstract: After the definition of CCIR-Rec. 601 for the 4:2:2 sampling parameters and the CCIR-Rec. 656 covering electrical and mechanical parameters for the interface, the industry started to design and manufacture various devices. That became apparent at Montreux last year.

Gerhard R. Wischermann was born in Hildesheim, West Germany, in 1951. He received the “Diplom-Engineer” degree in communications engineering from the “Technische Hochschule Darmstadt” in 1976. In 1977 he joined Robert Bosch GmbH (since 1986 BTS GmbH), where he was involved in research and development work in the field of digital video processing. Now he is responsible for the 4:2:2 component interface devices.
