- Abstract
- The sampling of NTSC color signals is studied with the aid of the three-dimensional spectrum. The effect of various spatio-temporal sampling patterns on the spectrum is derived and some experimental measurements are given. A number of sampling structures which allow a 2fsc horizontal sampling rate are identified, and possible reconstruction filters are described.

Eric Dubois was born in Montreal, Canada. He received the B. Eng. and M. Eng. degrees in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada, in 1972, 1974, and 1978 respectively. On obtaining his bachelor's degree, he was awarded the C. Michael Morssen gold medal. Since September 1977, he has been an assistant professor at INRS-Telecommunications, Université du Québec, Verdun, Quebec, Canada, and has collaborated with the visual communications research group of Bell-Northern Research. His interests are in the areas of digital signal processing and multi-dimensional signal processing and transmission. He is a member of IEEE.M.S. M. Shaker Sabri was born in Alexandria, Egypt on February 12, 1947. He received the B.Sc. and the M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University in 1968 and 1972 respectively. Jean-Yves Ouellet received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sherbrooke in 1976. From 1976 to 1978, he worked at the Hydro Quebec nuclear terminal plant at Gentilly. Since 1978 he has been enrolled in the master's program at INRS-Telecommunications, Université du Québec. He has been supported by a Government of Québec Scholarship. His interests lie in the digital signal processing of NTSC color signals. - Copyright
