- Abstract
- For several years, digital processing functions have been finding their way into the television studio. The first large-scale application was in time base correction of video tape recorder outputs. permitting the use of smaller, lower cost recorders in broadcast applications. Since the introduction of the digital TBC in 1973, there have been fascinating new digital developments: special effects generation. noise reduction, video feed synchronization, standards conversion, and even transmission over digital networks and optical communication links.

bio
Willard K. Bucklen received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in engineering as a departmental scholar from the University of California, Los Angeles in March 1975. He joined the Semiconductor Technology staff of the Microelectronics Center at TRW Systems Group, where he developed a configurable gate array for the implementation of logic in high reliability flight applications. Now with TRW LSI Products, he is responsible for the architecture and applications support of TRW's line of data conversion products. Mr. Bucklen is a member of SMPTE, IEEE and Tau Beta Pi. - Copyright
