- With the rapid rate of innovation in the last 30 years, particularly in the areas of semiconductors, networks and storage, comes a sense of invincibility. Creative minds have generated wave after wave of dazzling new technologies that continue to surprise everyone. This is particularly true in digital electronics, high speed computing and high speed networking. The constant pace of technological innovation has become an accepted expectation: if the CPU is not fast enough for a task, it will be in a year or two.
