Abstract
Digital sound tracks have the potential of delivering lower distortion signals with flat power bandwidth capability in the motion picture theater. Traditional 2-way theater loudspeaker systems are presently being pushed far beyond their original performance limits with digital sound tracks, and 3-way systems are now being considered as their future replacement. The authors have developed such systems for both small and large venues and will discuss the many observations, measurements, and decisions made during the engineering phase of development.
