Abstract
An integrated image sequence coding system based on wavelet transform is presented in this paper. First, by means of wavelet transform, an image signal is decomposed into a series of subspaces which make up a multiresolution approximation to the original image signal. On the basis of analyzing for the quantization noises, a bit allocation means of sub-images and two quantization methods involving intra-frame and inter-frame are derived. In accordance with the spatial orientation of sub-images, a proper scanning approach is selected for employment. A revised Test Model 5(TM5) bit-rate control scheme and a variable block-size multiresolution motion estimation(VBMRME) method are discussed. Finally, the simulation experiment is carried out and the satisfactory results are obtained.
