Abstract
The need for content management and protection has resulted in significant progress being made in this area for a flexible, low cost open system that is applicable to a wide range of consumer electronics equipment. Examples are presented that show how the new Content Management and Protection Technology can be applied to: DVD Disks Digital TV Broadcasting CD Games Electronic Banking Internet Content Delivery

After receiving his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam, Dr. Mooij worked for the Information Systems Division of Philips. In 1991 he accepted the function of Technical Manager for Mindport and has been working on Digital TV since 1992. He has actively contributed to the MPEG-2 Systems standard and the work in the Digital Video Broadcasting project in Europe. Mr. Mooij is currently participating in MPEG, DA VIC and DVB activities relating to Conditional Access and Content Management and Protection. Mindport has made substantial contributions to the various Digital TV standards and has promoted their usage globally.
