Abstract: The television receiver has undergone a solid & successful transformation in its history. It has developed from a humble ‘wooden box’ to what could be regarded as the major Home Entertainment Powerhouse. This presentation will discuss the development of the TV set, with a special focus on the Australian market and the impact of sales driven by technological advancement. In addition, the global market will be reviewed in conjunction with the local segment followed by a briefing of the future technology and market directions.

Lincoln Wong has been with Matsushita Electric since December 1995. Prior to that he was studying for his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Western Sydney. Since joining MELCOA, he has worked on various roles of the company including Production Engineering, Factory Automation, as well as R&D. Recently commencing a role in Commerce & Planning, he has been actively involved in Digital project developments within the companies of MELCOA and Panasonic Australia. He now holds the Bachelor of Engineering and the Master of Business Administration ( MBA ) Degrees from the University of Western Sydney as well as the Associate and Licentiate of Music from the University of Sydney.
