Abstract
The kind of dynamics processing used in FM transmission is not the optimum solution prior to the data compression codecs used in digital broadcast. Therefore audio for DVB, DAB and Internet should be processed differently than in a FM transmission signal chain. This paper will present a road map to digital dynamics processing and transmission. Additional topics to be discussed: Resolution, distortion and audio bandwidth requirements of the digital broadcast signal path.
