- Abstract
- This study explains the architecture and readout schemes used to achieve a 2/3-in. 9.5-Mpixel complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) imager, with 3.6 Gpixels/s enabling high frame-rate operation in native UHD-1/4K ultrahigh-definition (UHD) resolution and full high-dynamic range (HDR) support. The presented imager demonstrates an architecture that supports high spatial and temporal resolutions and a high output data rate. To fulfill the transfer time requirements, an innovative row addressing scheme has been developed to toggle between the different rows.

bio
Klaus Weber is responsible for defining and presenting Grass Valley’s camera solutions and technology. This includes all the current Grass Valley (LDX) camera systems used in a wide range of broadcast applications. His experience includes numerous technical and commercial roles in broadcast cameras. He has more than 38 years of industry experience, with the past 26 years focused on various marketing and business development roles for Grass Valley’s camera factory. He is a member of SMPTE, Fernseh- und Kinotechnischen Gesellschaft (FKTG), and has been awarded a patent in the field of imaging technology. He is the author of several technical articles and white papers dealing with various camera-related technologies and topics and has also given several technical presentations at various industry events and participated in discussion panels in many different countries around the world.Jeroen Rottebio
Jeroen Rotte graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering from the HZ University of Applied Sciences, Vlissingen, The Netherlands. He has worked for more than 25 years with Grass Valley, Breda, The Netherlands. He started his career working on CCD readout circuitry for both driving the imager as well as analog video processing. About 15 years ago, he was part of the team in the pioneering work to change from CCD- to CMOS imagers suitable for broadcast. He works now on the CMOS imager architecture, and the development of the imager readout & driving circuitry. He also works on imager characterization and on digital image corrections algorithms. Currently, he holds the position of Group Leader Image Sensors R&D at Grass Valley Cameras. - Keyword(s)
