- Abstract
- This paper first explains the blockchain technology from a technical perspective. The concept of smart contracts is described, which allows hosting executable code inside blockchains. The second part presents a schema of how metadata and rights contracts can be stored in a blockchain, and how the relations are established. The last part sketches a system for automated execution of usage of rights contracts.

bio
Stephan Schneider founded Reelway GmbH, Cologne, Germany, in 2010, to pursue cloud-based media technologies. Previously, he was with Blue Order, Kaiserslautern, Germany (acquired by Avid in 2010) first as a project manager and a coordinator for several national and European Union-funded research projects. In 2007, he was appointed as the vice president of products and technologies, in charge of product development. In this position, he was responsible for the development of the media asset management system—Media Archive, Versions 3.0–3.4 (now Interplay MAM). Schneider received a diploma degree in electrotechnology and electronics from the University of Stuttgart, Stuttgart, Germany, in 1993. With a thesis on compression theory, he earned a PhD in engineering (Dr.-Ing.) in 2000. - Keyword(s)
