Lubrication of Release Prints with Silicone

Abstract: Paraffin is commonly used as a film lubricant. It is applied to the film in solution, the solvent being either toxic, inflammable or expensive, and it has a tendency to cause streaks on the film. A new silicone of the nonfogging variety can be applied to the film in a water suspension just before the film enters the drying cabinet. This system eliminates the disadvantages of paraffin and also gives better lubrication. This paper describes in a qualitative way the development of the production procedures for this system.
