Abstract
In this third paper in a series on digital electronics for the user, the author continues his explanation of the solid-state switching and logic circuitry that is having increased application in both the broadcast and film industries. Here, the main topics covered are: cross-coupled inverters as a simple latch; the set-reset flip-flop; the D-type flip-flop; the J-K flip-flop; binary dividers and counters; up-down counters and digital-to-analog converters; registers; decoders; shift registers; and ring counters.
