- Abstract
- The technology employed in the Image Transform film recording process is a carefully assembled and controlled series of operations designed to achieve the best possible end product. The film processing formulas and a number of technical specifications are still considered proprietary information; however, a majority of the operations involved are quite straightforward and are described in detail. The steps in the reproduction process are outlined with an explanation of the materials used, their purpose and specifications. Areas discussed are: the recording devices and techniques along with problems encountered and their solutions, the reproduction scales of video and motion-picture film with emphasis on the conversion factors from the video to film media, the film formats available as output product, the elimination of scanning lines, and the subjectivity of the “motion-picture look.”
