Abstract: This is a report on the proceedings of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) which met in Zürich, Switzerland, from June 13 to June 22. The status of the revision of the standard data for colorimetry is explained and discussed. The present FCC standards for color television are specified in terms of colorimetric data adopted by the CIE in 1931. Most quantitative work on color, during the past 24 years, has been based on the CIE data. The significance of the proposed revisions in relation to that work and to future work and specifications is discussed.
