Hans Hoffmann Hoffmann was born in Munich. Germany. He received an engineering diploma from the University of Applied Sciences, Munich, in 1992 and is just finalizing a PhD study at the Brunei University, West London. He joined the Institut fuer Rundfunktechnik (IRT) in 1992 as a member of the research staff in new television production technologies. In 2000, he moved as senior engineer to the technical department of the EBU. For the past three years he has been involved in the EBU activities on high-definition television in production and emission. Hoffmann has chaired several EBU project groups. A Fellow of SMPTE, he has served as SMPTE Technology Committee Chair and Engineering Director, Television. He is a regular contributor to several technology publications and conferences, including IBC, NAB, and FKT and is a member of the FKT, SID, and IEE/IEEE.
