Use of the Blown Arc Lamp in 35mm and 70mm Projection

Abstract: Since the introduction of the air-blown carbon-arc lamp, many refinements have been made to enhance its use for 35mm and 70mm projection. The incorporation of a double-roller negative-feed mechanism assures accurate positioning of the negative carbon. A new 11.5 high-brightness positive carbon and a newly designed elliptical reflector have made this lamp especially adaptable to 70mm projection. A reduction in aperture temperatures has been achieved by the use of a dichroic filter.
