- Abstract
- Internet Protocal (IP) is now being widely deployed for internal distribution in broadcast and network operations facilities. Test and analysis for this can be distinctly different than IP delivery directly to the home (IPTV). Test strategies during IPTV initiation, establishment, and rollout will vary, but all will be targeted to ensuring quality of service.

Chris Purdy works on test solutions for the new advanced video compression formats and file-based video, at Tektronix Inc. in the U.K. His more than 30 years experience in the broadcast industry covers design of test equipment, routing matrices, TV standards converters, digital framestores, special effects systems, and post-production editing equipment. Purdy is a member of SMPTE, DVB commercial module, DVB technical module, and the MHP group of the DVB. He is a chartered engineer and a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. Purdy is also the director of an educational TV studio. - Copyright
